Why might I require Consular Legalisation services?

If you intend on using your documents in a country that is not a contracting state of the Apostille Convention (otherwise known as the Hague Convention), you may be required to have them legalised by the consulate or embassy of the country concerned. These countries do not accept apostille certificates issued by the FCDO.

The Apostille Convention

Contracting states of the Apostille Convention issue their own apostille certificates and accept those of others. This is the case for 124 nation states, worldwide. The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) is the governmental department responsible for issuing apostille certificates in the UK.
